The Red flashing light on the Tag can be seen through the clear protective Tabcase. Each Tag has it’s own tone when in search mode, for easy identification.
You can even train your cat to come home on demand by locating when they’re at home and associating the small Tag beep with a treat. When they are out and hear the beep they’ll come running home.

DISTANCE / RANGE : We quote a range of 150m / 500feet as a guideline. If locating in a house and going through doors and walls the range will be reduced. If used outside, clear line of sight you can expect the range to increase. Cats tend to stay local so if you are worried where they are, have a walk around the neighbourhood. Tabcat will help find them, even if they’re in the neighbours house!
TAG SIZE : 3cm (H) x 2cm (W) x 0.9cm (D) / 1.18in (H) x .79in (W) x 0.35in (D)
SILICONE CASES : Bundle includes 1 Turquoise and 3 clear Tabcases
NOTE: Tags and Handset not compatible with previous models, only Version 2 (V2).

Tabcat (RF) or GPS ?
As winner of the Sunday Times best GPS (dog) device a few years back we’re pretty familiar with GPS technology but here’s a quick few pointers why we believe GPS is NOT the right technology for cats:
1. Too large – Obvious one to start off with but larger GPS tags are uncomfortable. Many state they can be used on cats but they’ve been designed for larger dogs not cats.
2. Too heavy – Weight of anything around your cats neck should be kept to an absolute minimal. When you compare the Tabcat Tag at 6 grams / 0.21 ounces compared with GPS tags you can immediately see GPS tags are just too heavy.
3. GPS Battery power hungry – The idea of being able to see exactly where your cat is on your phone is ideal. The trouble is in practice it doesn’t quite work like this. GPS is inherently power hungry so when trying to locate, you need frequent location updates (say every 10 seconds). Due to the limited size of the battery it’s easy for the battery to run out before locating. If GPS tags are actively used they’ll need to be charged up at least twice a week.
4. Accuracy – GPS needs a sim card like you have in your phone to transmit its location. If there’s poor reception on that network, in that area GPS won’t report. Location also typically varies from about 8 metre to significantly more. As GPS works best outdoors often there can be a loss of signal when they’re indoors – not ideal if they’ve got stuck in someone else’s house / garage / shed. Lastly with some of the hiding places we’ve seen cats get into a greater level of accuracy is needed to pin point their location.
5. Monthly subscriptions – You’ll tend to find they’ll be a monthly subscription to cover ongoing tracking costs. Compare the total costs over a 3 or 5 year period and you could be surprised
6. How far does your cat really wander ? – Cats tend to be pretty territorial and whilst there’s the exception most stay pretty local to where they live as demonstrated in the BBC Horizon documentary. This can easily be covered by walking the area with your Tabcat and once in range specifically guide you to their exact location.
To sum it up - We understand the benefits for GPS, it’s a great technology and one we’ve sold but the specific requirements a cat needs – small, light, accurate and a reasonable battery life is just not available today with GPS technology. It’s why we offer a 30 day money back guaranteed so you can test / compare Tabcat at home for yourself.
How do you register a tag to a handset?
Place the tag you wish to register within arms length of the handset and ensure it is the only active tag in close proximity to the handset. Ensure the plastic strip has been removed to activate battery. To register the tag to button 1, hold button 1 down for three seconds or until you hear a beep. Repeat registration process for any other tags with the other available buttons.
Alternatively, have a look at the process in video.

How do you Un-register a tag from a handset?
Press the right hand side button to switch on your Tabcat – the red status light will flash. Press the left hand side (volume) button and simultaneously press button 1. Hold both buttons down for three seconds or until you hear a beeps. Then release both buttons. This will un-register the tag paired with button 1 and allow you to register the tag to a different button or handset. Repeat this process holding down the left hand side button and button 2 to un-register tag associated with button 2. Repeat as necessary for buttons 3 and 4.

How do you change the batteries in a tag?
Put your thumbnail, or a flat tool, at the end of the Tag by the lanyard hole, into the split line (line going around the middle of the Tag). Keeping your thumbnail / flat tool in the split line move it around to the middle of the long side. The Tag will pop open.
Replace batteries with new ones keeping the plus side facing up nearest the lanyard hole and plus side down furthest from the lanyard hole. Replace the lid by putting one long side in first then pushing shut. If the battery is correctly inserted the Tag will beep when the case is closed.
What batteries does the Tabcat use?
The Tabcat Handset uses x1 CR2032 battery and the Homing Tag uses x2 SR1130, LR1130 or any equivalent battery that size. They can be purchased from most supermarkets or stores that would sell batteries.
Pet Safety
Please check to ensure collar is not too loose or tight to avoid rubbing. When adjusting the collar, you must leave enough space to be able to slide two fingers between the collar and your cat’s neck to avoid injury, or two-three fingers for long hair cats. Owners should be aware of how to fit a collar correctly and it is owners responsibility to choose the correct collar for their cat. For your cats comfort we recommend the collar/Tabcat is removed once a month and checked
Product Maintenance
We recommend removing the tag form the silicone case every three months to extract cat hair from the case and inside the tag. When removing you must also check for scratches, bite marks or damage caused by your cat to the silicone case. If any damage has incurred, we recommend replacing. (Replacement cases can be purchased via our website). The duration of the silicone case depends on your cat.
